Lead Labourers

Ereconomic Construction Ltd Direct, PAYE.

An excellent opportunity is available for a Lead Labourer to join a well-established construction and fit-out contractor on a permanent basis. Our company is based in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, but we operate throughout the UK so some travel and working away from home will be required at times. We work predominantly within the Leisure Sector and have a strong positive relationship with many well-known Clients and Organisations. We are pleased to promote that we have numerous live projects currently on-site and are in a very strong position in securing new work with repeat return business and new prospective Clients in the near future.

The Lead Labourer will be required to effectively manage the on-site Labouring Team to ensure tasks are completed safely and in a timely manner. They will also be required to provide support to the Site Manager to help them carry out their daily duties on site.

The successful candidate will help the company to promote safe and best practice on our sites and reinforce our strong emphasis on safety and quality at all project stages for our Clients.

The Lead Labourer will be provided with a remuneration package unlike others available for this position in the industry which will include an attractive salary based on experience, the option to join the company pension scheme, mobile telephone and a company vehicle. Industry-recognised training will also be provided to help support you in your role.

Reports To: Site Manager
Responsible For: Site Labourers


The Lead Labourer will be responsible for and will be expected to carry out the following:

  • Receiving instruction from the Site Manager and delegating duties to the Site Labourers.
  • Ensuring the Site Labourers are working safely and efficiently.
  • Making sure the Site Labourers are wearing the correct PPE for their works.
  • Making sure the Site Labourers are carrying out their works in accordance to the approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Checking to make sure all people on site have signed-in and attended the site induction.
  • Will be required to establish and maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment for the site.
  • Responsible for looking after the site storage facilities and containers on site and the logging of items in and out.
  • Accepting deliveries to site. This will involve checking-off items that have been delivered against the delivery note and making sure any missing or damaged items are recorded and the delivery notes are filed correctly in the site office.
  • Liaising with suppliers on behalf of the Site Manager to chase up missing or late deliveries to site.
  • Running errands on behalf of the Site Manager to assist as required. For example; taking journeys to Builder’s Merchants to purchase supplies for site.
  • Promoting best practice in health and safety for all personnel on site and encouraging a “Don’t Walk By” policy.
